Dementia Care

Dementia care at Albert House involves providing specialised care and support for individuals with dementia. Dementia is a progressive neurological condition that can affect memory, thinking, behaviour, and the ability to perform everyday tasks. The care provided is designed to help individuals with dementia maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life.

Our dementia care involves a dedicated and trained team including Care Assistants, a Team Leader and Manager, with additional doctors, nurses, and advocacy services specialising in dementia. Working together we develop a person-centered care plan that is tailored to the individual’s needs, preferences, and abilities.

Some key elements of our dementia care and support at Albert House may include:

Person-Centered Care:

This means that care is tailored to the individual’s unique needs, preferences, and abilities, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Our team will get to know the person with dementia and their life history, likes, and dislikes to provide personalised care and engage with the resident.

Albert House has a dedicated Butterfly Wing that is designed to be safe and easy to navigate. Including features such as clear signage, colour-coded doors, and memory aids to help residents find their way around.

We provide meaningful and engaging activities to support individuals to live well with dementia. These might include music therapy, art classes, exercise groups, and reminiscence sessions.

A healthy and balanced diet is important for overall health and wellbeing. We provide nutritious meals that are tailored to the individual’s dietary requirements and preferences, including tasty, healthy snacks and finger foods.

Medication Management:

Individuals with dementia may require medication to manage symptoms or underlying conditions. Our trained team will ensure that medications are administered safely and as prescribed.

Support for Families:

Dementia can be challenging for both the individual and their family. Our team will provide support and information to families, as well as opportunities to be involved in their loved one’s care.
